New art work by Judy Watson at Reconciliation Place, Canberra, to mark the 40th anniversary of the referendum which gave indigenous Australians the right to vote (yes, only 40 years ago ...).
The vertical metal strips represent burning trees, and the oblong metal object that looks like a dugong or sea cow (the Australian version of a mermaid) continuously throbs with sounds.
