Leave the path at the lake and enter the Sculpture Garden of the National Gallery of Australia, and you will stumble upon the burghers of Calais .... an incongruous sight among the scraggy eucalypts.

The highlights and texture on this sculpture are pretty intense , great find and mildly disturbing image. You did a good job capturing the essence of this statue.

@Fred: Thanks Fred - it's 19th century European angst - very odd in the setting!
Usually it's difficult to convey someone else's art through photography.. there's the element of 3D missing. But you've got it bang on with this one. The lighting (shadows, hues, contrasts) are all bringing out the essence of this statue. Thank you.

@amy: Thank you Amy - the light is the white heat of high summer, in excess of 40 degree Celsius. You could fry an egg on the metal!
