At dusk on March 6th, 2007, the preparations of the site for the Cirque de Soleil's "Varekai" season in Canberra were well and truly underway. The four flags will fly above the big top.
Tomorrow: the big top is up, and the hard hats catch me taking photos at the fence!

Oh soooo jealous! I would have loved to have seen them, but the cost of tickets and flying up to Auckland and accommodation and everything was prohibitive. Hope the hard hats didn't give you too much strife!!

@Bronnie: They have what they call the Tapis Rouge - red carpet treatment for the high rollers - am I one? No!
wow, Canberra seems to be a busy place culturally speaking. I'd been told by my Aussie friends here that it was a virtual backwater where nothing happened, and the politicians et al can't wait to leave at the end of the week. Am very happy to be proved wrong!

@Stu: Times and places change - Canberra's a satelite suburb of Sydney - work in Sydney, rest here on weekends (fresh clean air, national collections, plenty of space) - the best of both worlds!
WONDERFUL colors in the image Sidonie! GO! If you have not seen them, by all means, GO - they are beyond belief!

@Jerry: OK Jerry! I'm skulking around the site with the camera hoping for candids of the performers now!
Nice one Sidonie, making everyone jealous! :-)
