Greeks bearing gifts

Who was it who said: "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts?" Sophocles? These two young gods from Olympus offered me barbarcued beef and a great photo! They were dressed in the costume of their (parents') former homeland to perform at the Canberra Food and Dance Festival, February 10th, 2007.

First in a series of shots from the Festival.

Lovely colours, lovely young men - I hope you sampled? Nice balance of darker at the top and the brightness of their costumes.

@Bronnie: Somewhere I saw a comment about the Canon A530 Powershot overexposing on capture, and I think that may be the case - there's too much light in this photo, even if the sunlight in this part of the world is particularly harsh, and the white of their costumes so bright - see the EXIF is 1/800? I wanted to process for darker contrast, but that only produced skin tones too dark ... any ideas?

What a cheearful photo, well captured. I am so proud for these young people that are proud in dressing up with the traditional uniforms of their grandparents. Nice one Sidonie!

You got me thinking and had to check. I think the quote is from Virgil. Laocoon says “Quidquid id est, timeo Danaos et dona ferentes.” which means something like “Whatever it is, I fear Greeks even when they bring gifts.” (like Trojan horses) I think the phrase has suffered from a case of Chinese whispers.
