@objectif-plume: Bonjour ob-pl! L'originale est detruite dans un orage - elle representa le monde. Celle-ci n'est qu'une bule des mosaiques transparentes. Suspendu, neanmoins, c'est magique, oui.
Now this is interesting! How the dickens did you do that!? Is that a balloon?
Very cool shot.

@Stu: That ball is a replacement for a globe (of planet earth) which was destroyed in a storm a few years ago. It's rather plain by comparison - just triangular bits of plastic on a sphere - and smaller than the original. It's suspended across the driveway of the Art Gallery - can't you see the wires? I did nothing - just a point and click job (but I love your curiosity - thanks, Stu! Actually, it was the PALFINGER truck which attracted to me to the site this time)
Well what do ya know, seeing your explanation to Stu I gotta say I feel a little silly.
Originally I thought you added the globe via photoshop and the wires were lines of motion giving it a crashing asteroid look .

@Fred: Oh la la! So what's it gonna be now: "Very cool -NOT!"? The NGA has to take all the credit for this illusion - a very 1970s sort of space art, whereas you're bringing the digital generation's artistic sensibility and expectations to the image, and THAT is REALLY GREAT! Thanks Fred for the come-back!
