Army fatigues

Defence force members out for an evening stroll. I like the dichotomies here - the nationalism of the military against the internationalism of the flags; soldiers in uniform but relaxing in public; soldiers who are women too, and engaged in a private chat.

(Cropped - too long for your PC? - yes, I know, but I like these long ones!)

Sidonie - I love the shot! It's nice to see them relaxed! My 26 year old son is currently in Baghdad with the US Army Special Forces - I can't wait to see him home safe and relaxed again!

It is long Sidonie - but I enjoyed the flags on my scroll down! Really excellent shot. Wish I could see it all in one piece. I love the portrait rather than landscape shots too - especially for printing.

@susankritha: Glad you like this sort of framing - it risks being too narrow, but with this one I wanted to hide the black car's number plate. There are always questions of privacy ....

Can flags ever be "international"?

@Resolute Reader: Good point - these long corridors of all flags of the world down by the lake are there to indicate that Canberra is the home of the international diplomatic corps (Thailand's embassy is particularly attractive, too.)
