Dry Pond #1

Posted by Sidonie (Sydney, Australia) on 17 January 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

How bad is the drought in Australia? How severe are our water restrictions?

This gives you an idea. Located in the Sculpture Garden of the NGA, Canberra, she is supposed to be immersed up to her thighs in water. The sculpture's title, after all, is "Floating figure". But all the pools and ponds in Canberra are dry. We need every drop of water just to keep living; to waste it on ART would be frivolous indeed.
